Key Responsibilities:
Senior Engineer – Aircraft Cybersecurity Operations is responsible for coordinating with both internal and external partners - such as Avionics Engineering, Powerplant Engineering, Government Affairs, Corporate Security, Corporate Safety, Industry working groups, OEMs, and FAA - to drive United’s aircraft cybersecurity operations to be consistent with the latest developments in aviation cyber security. This individual will support identifying the aviation cyber risk landscape and will support driving cybersecurity threat analysis and assessment actions, perform security tests, and validate security mitigations that should be executed to ensure a safe and secure continued airworthiness for all United aircraft.
Mentor team on aviation cyber risks and risk assessment methodologies
Develop and present aviation cyber security risk-related papers, reports, alerts, and bulletins
Serve as a subject matter expert on third-party relations in the aviation space and the associated cyber security risk
Document all United partners and third-parties associated with aviation cyber security
Maintain and build relationships with key cyber security aviation partners both internal and external to the company
Perform aviation cyber risk assessments in accordance with industry standards and best practices

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree
STEM
Aviation experience
4 or more years of combined related experience in either aircraft engineering, aircraft cybersecurity, embedded product security, or other similar related fields
Knowledge of airport operations
Knowledge of aircraft avionics, cabin, and propulsion systems
Risk assessment skills
Knowledge of security risk methodologies consistent with the aviation industry
Knowledge of aviation security regulations and standards
Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints
Collaboration and communication skills
Knowledge of basic cryptography concepts
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
Ability to work in teams and across business functions
High level understanding of network exploitation, attack strategies and methods, current IT security technology, software and cyber threat mitigation tools
Working knowledge of computer operating systems, network design, embedded security, and security architecture principles
Ability to concisely and accurately convey complex cyber security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
Master's degree
CISSP, GSEC, or a SANS equivalent cybersecurity certification
Critical infrastructure or Government experience
Experience navigating hardware-based security techniques and assessments
Strong programming skills
Knowledge of digital design and understanding of hardware at the component levels
Remote option may be available
Salary range: $105,600 - $154,880
