Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Track Engineer to join our Chicago office.
This is an exceptional opportunity to be involved with infrastructure transit/rail projects for our key clients in Chicago and the surrounding area, including CTA, Metra and Amtrak. Qualified applicants will be able to demonstrate technical experience in track design. The objective of the position is to work in a multidisciplinary engineering environment and provide light rail (LRT), heavy rail (HRT), commuter, freight, and streetcar/trolley design. In addition, it is expected that the successful candidate in this position closely collaborates with planning, civil/roadway, structural, and architectural design teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as a track design engineer in projects of various scale
Supports track & civil discipline leads in major infrastructure projects
Performs quantity take-offs for all track corridor components (track and civil)
Participates in technical specifications writing
Collaborates with other design disciplines
Provides support to PM and DPM
Serve as Task lead or DPM
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
PE license or equivalent licensure required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Engineering or related field
5 years in design
Strong skills in track alignment design and CADD skills in both the MicroStation and AutoCAD platforms
Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley InRoads / OpenRoads / OpenRail
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley InRoads / OpenRoads / OpenRail
Experience in working on CTA, Metra, Amtrak, BNSF and UPRR projects
Working knowledge of design requirements for rail systems (e.g. traction power, catenary, signals).
Working knowledge of track structure design principles and special trackwork details
Experience with design and testing of ballast-less track forms
Experience in construction, maintenance or inspection of track
Ability to scope/estimate complex projects
Track and manage task budgets and schedule
Demonstrate leadership skills and communication skills requiring client interaction
Ability to work with various multi-disciplined teams is essential to this role
Provide in-depth Quality Control and Quality Assurance for design/project management/program management
Additional Information
Relocation is available for this role.
Sponsorship is available for this position (current US Employment VISA holders)
Occasional project site travel required.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $150,000.00 - $230,000.00.
