Job Summary
The job uses best practices and knowledge within Alumni Relations and leads a program designed to engage the alumni community worldwide, increase participation, and advance the objectives of the Alumni Association and the broader University. Researches, executes, and implements best practices in alumni relationship management. Works with the Alumni Board of Governors to create and implement guidelines to govern shared interest groups.
Responsibilities
- The Senior Associate Director of Alumni Engagement manages alumni programs for the University of Chicago Medical & Biological Sciences Alumni Association (UChicago MBSAA). Their responsibilities include but are not limited to: planning and coordination of alumni events; developing alumni-student volunteer programs; guiding Alumni Weekend activities; staffing Alumni Weekend volunteers and committees; developing programming/staffing the Alumni Council, and liaising with members of the University Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) staff.
- The Senior Associate Director is responsible for developing, executing and evaluating Alumni Engagement programs of the University of Chicago Medicine (UCM), which includes the Division of Biological Sciences and the Pritzker School of Medicine.
- The Senior Associate Director is a critical member of the Alumni Weekend team. Liaises with members of ARD to leverage University Alumni Weekend programs during the Medical School Alumni Weekend. The Senior Associate Director partners with the Alumni Weekend planning team to oversee all Alumni Weekend communications, volunteer and leadership involvement, program planning, and brief writing.
- The Senior Associate Director oversees the Alumni Engagement team\'s collective activity and is responsible for tracking tactical steps to ensure goals and objectives are met. As such, they develop timelines for all major projects and programs, closely monitors team activity, track deliverables and report progress to the Senior Director. They lead team meetings to advance strategy and ensure outcomes.
- The Senior Associate Director oversees the development and execution of an annual strategic communications plan including email messages, newsletters, social media, event invitations and website content.
- They advise and mentor the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement in planning and implementing annual programs that foster connections between current students, alumni, and the UChicago MBSAA. This includes attending events both locally and throughout the country to staff volunteers, represent the Alumni Association and ensure the smooth execution of events.
- They will coordinate with Individual Giving Officers for Education & Community to identify and recruit key volunteers in order to advance their giving and engagement strategies. They will identify leadership annual giving and major gift prospects through these alumni activities and advance leads to the appropriate fundraisers.
- The Senior Associate Director is responsible for staffing the Alumni Council including the President of the MBSAA and Executive Committee members, the alumni awards committee, and the nomina ing committee and will provide guidance to the Assistant Director of Communications in staffing the editorial committee. They are responsible for the development of programming for Alumni Council meetings, including speakers, presentations, campus tours, and student engagement opportunities for the purpose of educating and engaging Council members in the life of the school.
- The Senior Associate Director supervises 1-3 employees.
- Assists in leading and coordinating the planning, organization, and management of events, programs, and services designed to cultivate and maintain ties between the University of Chicago and key constituent groups. May assist in or individually create a marketing plan to maximize participation and engagement of alumni, parents, and friends.
- Is part of the strategy of the Alumni Association in order to provide peerless service to alumni worldwide and develop lifelong relationships in a manner consistent with sound business practices and overarching University and development goals.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
