OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a talented, client-service oriented Real Estate / Corporate Paralegal to join our paralegal team. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years experience supporting a Real Estate and/or Corporate practice in a law firm environment. This position may be located in our Chicago or New York office.
Qualified individuals must have excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and be able to take direction. Overtime and travel may be required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Attending and conducting closings
- Drafting conveyance and other closing documents
- Preparing critical dates lists
- Preparing closing checklists
- Preparing closing statements
- Obtaining transfer tax stamps, zoning certificates, duplicate tax bills, water certifications, condominium letters, certificates of insurance and payoff letters
- Ordering title searches and surveys
- Working on title and survey reviews
- Resolving title and survey issues
- Forming, qualifying, amending, reinstating and maintaining LLCs, Partnerships and Corporations
- Ordering Authority Documents
- Preparing and filing UCC Financing Statements
- Ordering UCC lien searches
- Preparing summaries of lien search results
- Recording documents in various counties and states.
- Organizing, preparing and coordinating the execution and delivery of closing documents
- Preparing closing indices and organize closing books
- Familiarity with Land Trusts
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor\'s degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved institution
- The ability to independently and efficiently prioritize workflow
- Superior organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite strongly preferred
- Strong proofreading skills and attention to detail
