Library Administration - Development
About the Department
University of Chicago faculty and students routinely push boundaries in the fields of gaming, and as pioneers defining game design theory, have positioned the University as a leader in the critical study of gaming on culture. Today, gaming is a dominant form of play in contemporary life and surpasses the film industry in terms of engagement, revenue, and, potentially, cultural impact. The ubiquity and prevalence of gaming in modern life cannot be understated and studying and preserving games provides an understanding of the cultural forces influencing how people explore, experience, and impact their world.
