Job Summary

The job designs and develops marketing plans for a department, program, product or business with moderate guidance and direction from others. Coordinates and evaluates the production of marketing communication and research programs, using existing procedures to solve routine problems that may arise.

Responsibilities

  • The Marketing Communications Coordinator is accountable for maintaining an effective support structure for marketing and communications projects specific to Medicine & Biological Sciences Development (MBSD) campaigns and donor and alumni communications. The Coordinator will possess a balanced skill set that supports the production of multi-media communications, including cause marketing campaigns,, web content, social media content, video, and e-mail and direct mail marketing. The Coordinator works toward the goal of increasing alumni and donor engagement.
  • The Marketing Communications Coordinator provides project management support and assists Marketing and Communications colleagues in campaign planning, multi-media communications development, and vendor management and procurement.
  • The Coordinator plans and executes communications to support cause marketing events, such as those for Comer Children\'s Hospital, as well as special campaigns, and e-newsletters.
  • Assists in the development, management, and execution of communication and marketing campaigns that align with general University messaging and branding.
  • Creates and manages marketing collateral, including digital and print materials and content.
  • Provides list management support for communications and campaigns.
  • Assists with design projects, including facilitating the editing process, production support, vendor management, and photo selection.
  • Creates website and social media content and assists with content maintenance.
  • Maintains positive relationships with the University community and stakeholders.
  • Develops marketing communications, advertising, or publicity materials with a moderate level of guidance from others. Develops, plans, and coordinates the development and production of marketing and publicity materials and campaigns, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Performs one or more of the following marketing functions: marketing communications /advertising; Web blogs or digital marketing; market research; development or review and update of the marketing infrastructure and management of external sales agency relationships.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience working in a marketing office or agency, and/or writing and editing either in journalism, corporate communications, advertising or public relations agencies, or in academia.
  • Experience working with digital automation technologies, such as Salesforce Marketing loud, MailChimp, or similar technologies, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop, and HTML; Blackbaud Luminate and Teamraiser.

Preferred Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Proficiency with working in digital media, including email platforms and social media.
  • A demonstrated ability to think creatively.
  • Ability to manage multiple details while adhering to a broader concept or purpose. Ability to understand finance and quantitative documents.
  • Capacity for identifying and evaluating basic issues, for bringing together information from a variety of sources, and for selecting appropriate analytical and creative approaches in dealing with immediate responsibilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, the ability to respond to constantly shifting priorities, to exercise sound judgment, to anticipate problems and create solutions.
