UL, LLC Corporate Communications Lead-Commercial Excellence in Chicago, Illinois

This role is hybrid based out of our Chicago or Northbrook, IL office

Want to help make the world a safer, more secure, more sustainable place? This strategist and content-development professional with both internal and external communications experience will:

  • Partner with senior UL Solutions commercial leaders to develop and execute comprehensive, integrated internal and external communications plans that drive stakeholder action.

  • Serve as an effective counselor, influencer and best-practices advocate to senior leaders, developing proactive communications strategies based on a deep understanding of the organization’s needs.

  • Work in close collaboration with colleagues across the global Communications and Marketing teams and key leaders across businesses and corporate functions.

The ideal candidate will be a creative, strategic thinker and storyteller with exceptional writing and editing skills, an energetic, outgoing personality (ready sense of humor a plus) and previous experience as an executive communications partner who can effectively communicate what stakeholders to know, feel, and do.

This is an individual contributor reporting to the Director of Business Communications

In the run of an average week, this individual contributor is likely to dedicate time as follows:

  • Development and execution of strategic internal and external communications plans encompassing everything from town hall meetings to intranet articles, executive leader communications, presentation materials, video scripts and more. (60%)

  • Leading communications for key companywide change-management projects and developing creative communications tactics to promote these efforts. (20%)

  • Collaborating with key functional leaders to develop and execute effective sales force communications (10%)

  • Other activities as assigned (10%)

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED.

  • Degree in communication, marketing or a related field.

  • Generally, eight years or more of related experience or demonstrated competency.

MINIMUM ABILITIES PREFERRED.

  • Able to understand technical and scientific issues and to translate complex information for nonscientific audiences.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience managing and/or using a wide array of internal communication tools.
