Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Commercial Lit Paralegal in the heart of CHICAGO, Illinois. This role centers around the legal industry, where you'll be tasked with managing client communications, drafting discovery requests, and handling various legal documents.
Responsibilities:
• Drafting initial versions of discovery requests and responses
• Accurate and efficient processing of customer credit applications
• Ensuring the organized management and maintenance of documents and pleadings
• Handling electronic court filings and managing case software
• Summarizing and abstracting deposition records
• Conducting basic research on potential arbitrators, witnesses, or jurors
• Assisting in the preparation of exhibits for depositions, arbitration, trial, and court proceedings
• Maintaining customer credit records with high attention to detail
• Communicating effectively, efficiently, and diplomatically with clients
• Ensuring confidentiality in all communications and transactions. Requirements • Possess a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role
• Proficiency in using Aderant, a popular legal software
• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat for document management and sharing
• Familiarity with Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS)
• Experience with case management software for efficient tracking and organization
• Proficiency in CompuLaw, a legal calendar management tool
• Ability to handle billing functions efficiently and accurately
• Experience in briefing teams or individuals
• Proficient in calendar management for scheduling and organizing
• Experience in claim administration, including filing and processing claims
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
• Experience in commercial litigation, including case preparation and court proceedings
• Proficient in e-Filing systems for court documents
• Experience in discovery processes, including the collection and exchange of evidence
• Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly
• Experience in legal writing, including drafting contracts, briefs, and other legal documents
• Proficient in legal research, with the ability to find and analyze laws, regulations, and court decisions.
