Curtiss-Wright Corporation Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Cheswick, Pennsylvania

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.

Your Challenge:

  • Identify and design tooling and fixtures to enable safe and efficient manufacturing of parts/assemblies

  • Understand and apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design to Cost (DTC) concepts to development and production projects

  • Understand and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing concepts during manufacturing and drawing review and development

  • Plans, coordinates, and executes complex manufacturing engineering activities such as routine operational or methods analyses related to labor standards, reviews product/project flow data, tooling, equipment and labor requirements for use in conducting manufacturing operations to increase productivity and reduce production unit cost.

  • Provide Shop support for assigned projects

  • Provide field service and supplier support as necessary for assigned projects

  • Develop and/or revise work instructions, routings, manufacturing processes/procedures, tool drawings and related manufacturing software for assigned projects

  • Identify new and/or improved processes for reducing rework, cycle-time, and costs for assigned projects

  • Participate in Kaizen Events, Process Mapping and Project Readiness reviews

  • Ability to apply software specific to role such as: MS office, VISIO, SolidEdge, TeamCenter, Oracle and AutoCad

  • Develop quotations for assigned product(s)

  • Understands customer perspectives and inputs and takes appropriate responsive actions

  • Leads project team or technical team meetings by setting the right environment so team member’s ideas flow freely.

  • Perform work in accordance with departmental procedures and instructions, CW policies, and safety, environmental, and security rules and guidelines

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering, Master’s degree would be a benefit.

  • Minimum prior work experience of 15 years in the area of mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering or a closely related engineering field

  • Significant experience in an industrial, shop or manufacturing environment

  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to created models and drawings, present design reviews and coordinate multiple project responsibilities

  • Must be a team player

  • Must be sole US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance

Experience/credentials that would be a plus:

  • Prior Defense, Nuclear, Power Generation or heavy manufacturing experience with rotating machinery

  • Experience with manufacturing processes, such as machining, welding, winding, or assembly

  • Experience with fixture or tooling design and manufacture

  • Ability to tolerate and drive change

  • Learning agility

  • Ability to perform stress analysis for the design of lifting and handling equipment

  • 3D CAD package(s) (e.g. SolidEdge, Solid Works, Inventor, etc.)

  • Microsoft Office
