Job Description
Assistant Director of Employer Engagement
Boston College is seeking an energetic and dedicated Assistant Director of Employer Engagement to join the Career Center team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Employer Engagement, the Assistant Director will cultivate and maintain successful relationships with organizations, alumni, parents, academic and student affairs departments, and other Boston College stakeholders to increase the overall number of employers and meaningful opportunities available to Boston College students for their career development.
The Assistant Director is a key relationship builder with existing and future employer partners, and offers exceptional customer service to ensure positive and successful recruiting and hiring outcomes at Boston College. The Assistant Director’s work will be informed by using our three-step career development model – Explore, Prepare, Act, which considers the needs of students at each stage of this process. The Center embraces the value of a Jesuit liberal arts education, which prepares students to discern their gifts and talents and incorporate their career goals into lives of meaning and impact.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Employer Development & Engagement (40%)
Collaborate with the Career Center leadership team and colleagues to set and achieve employer outreach goals informed by internal and external data sources, including First Destination Survey, Internship Survey, and industry rankings.
Cultivate and build relationships with new employers in targeted industries.
Actively engage and communicate with existing employer partners to build and maintain strong employer relationships.
Educate local, regional and national employer partners about Boston College students and Career Center initiatives and best practices.
Partner with employers to promote inclusive recruiting practices that support the success of all Boston College candidates.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of recruiting and career field trends by interacting with employers regularly and reporting back to the Employer Engagement and Career Education teams.
Participate in professional development activities and remain current on issues affecting the labor market.
Events, Programming, and Student Support (40%)
Implement an employer partnership strategy for targeted industries and supporting employer engagement initiatives including on-campus and virtual recruiting opportunities.
Partner with the Career Education team to create and execute successful experiential learning programs and to identify employer and alumni partners to participate in signature Career Center events and programs such as career fairs and networking nights, career treks, themed weeks, and other related programs.
Serve as the primary point of contact for employers and alumni participating in signature Career Center events, offering superior customer service to ensure positive and successful recruiting, hiring, and engagement efforts at Boston College.
Organize and host events for employers, alumni, and other visitors, as needed.
Represent Boston College at on-campus and off-campus employer-related functions and events.
Provide one-on-one and group career coaching to students during peak times of the year.
Management and Reporting (10%)
Prepare monthly and periodic reports and analysis of employer engagement activities and results.
Participate in assessment of programs and services.
Contribute to annual and semester-based goal setting for the entire Employer Engagement team.
Committees & University Initiatives (10%)
Participate in Career Center committees providing representation of the Employer Engagement team.
Serve as a liaison to university departments as appropriate.
Each staff member in the Division of Student Affairs is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:
0-3 years of experience: $63,500 - $79,350
3+ years of experience: $70,520 - $88,150
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; relevant Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in employer engagement, external relations, talent management, career advising or a combination of these areas is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to effectively build and manage relationships with external and internal stakeholders, namely employers, faculty, staff, students, and/or other campus partners.
Team-oriented approach, openness to feedback and strong ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals.
Commitment to working and supporting all of our students and a proven track record of developing relationships with inclusive employers.
Detail-oriented with excellent communication (oral, written, and presentation) skills and strong organizational abilities.
Commitment to strong customer service with the desire to enhance and support the office’s image, goals, and objectives through each individual interaction.
Demonstrated skills in program management and assessment.
Adept in using online platforms and applications such as Handshake (or a comparable career services platform), CRMs and Microsoft Office applications.
Comfort using data to inform strategic decisions, assess program effectiveness, and enhance employer engagement and job development strategies.
