Job Description

Boston College’s Educational Resource Center (ERC) seeks an Acquisitions and Fiscal Assistant to join our collaborative and service-oriented team. The ERC, Boston College’s K-12 curriculum library, supports the innovative work of the Lynch School of Education and Human Development, the nation’s number one Catholic college of education. With a robust collection of children’s and young adult literature, K-12 curricula across the disciplines, extensive electronic resources for elementary and secondary classrooms, educational technology, and professional development resources for educators, the ERC supports both teacher practice and research in education.

The ERC Acquisitions and Fiscal Assistant works closely with the Head Librarian, Liaison Librarian, and other ERC staff to acquire new library materials and manages the library’s materials budget. This position is responsible for ordering and invoicing new acquisitions, troubleshooting payment issues, and resolving vendor questions in conjunction with staff in the Acquisitions Department. This position works with the Metadata Department to adjust bibliographic records as needed, and oversees the receiving of print periodicals in the ERC collection. This position collaborates with the ERC team to support stack maintenance, is responsible for all aspects of patron billing, and maintains and reconciles the office supplies budget.

Work Schedule

This position is 35 hours per week/full year. Hours are as follows:

Mon-Thurs: 12 pm – 8 pm

Fri: 9am – 5pm

Sat: off

Sun: off

Hiring Range: $22.69/hr. to $28.35/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Requirements: High school diploma

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree

Experience working in an academic library or school library setting

Experience with budget management and billing
