Job Title: General Laborer -- Automotive Repair Shop

Location: Chesterfield, MI

Position Type: Full-time.  8am - 5pm w/ 1 hour lunch

Pay Rate: $17.00 - $25.00 / Based on experience

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and reliable General Laborer to join our automotive repair shop. As a team member, you will assist with various tasks to support the smooth operation of the shop.  This is an entry-level position ideal for someone eager to learn about the automotive industry while gaining hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist mechanics and technicians with vehicle repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
• Perform general cleaning and organizing of workspaces to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment.
• Wash, detail, and prepare vehicles for customer pick-up.
• Move vehicles in and out of the repair shop, ensuring proper handling and parking.
• Handle tools, equipment, and parts safely and efficiently.
• Assist with disassembly and assembly of vehicle parts.
• Remove and replace tires, batteries, fluids, and other parts under the supervision of senior technicians.
• Dispose of waste materials, oils, and other automotive fluids following environmental safety guidelines.
• Support the shop's overall upkeep and maintenance, including sweeping, mopping, and clearing debris from work areas.
• Other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of automotive systems and parts (preferred but not required).
• Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Willingness to learn and grow within the automotive field.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Previous experience in a labor-intensive role, particularly in automotive repair, is a plus but we will train the right person.
• Knowledge of basic hand tools and power equipment.

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to work in a noisy, sometimes dirty environment.
• May be required to stand for extended periods and work in a variety of weather conditions.
