Position Overview

The primary purpose of the Senior Director, Distribution Operations, is to oversee the operations function of multiple warehouse facilities for a specified region/geography. The Senior Director will collaborate with the Vice President and/or Senior Vice President to create and drive a strategic vision that supports growth within the market. Leading a team of Directors and Sr. Managers, the Sr. Director will deliver financial successes through developing top talent, continuous improvement and operational excellence. As a Senior Director, Distribution Operations, you will collaborate with Transportation/Ops Logistics, Procurement and Commercial leadership to deliver annual targets in the areas of safety, quality, service and profitability. The successful candidate should have experience dealing with a diverse customer base, servicing complex distribution channels and a high-velocity, high-SKU product mix. The individual must have demonstrated the ability to drive success and foster a culture that is metrics-driven and results-oriented across a multi-site market.

  • Deliver Results as ONE Team: Deliver on all Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Quality, Financial performance and Employee Experience). Leverage metrics and analytic tools to allocate resources against the right work. Effectively communicate current processes and future solution recommendations as needed. Work closely with Commercial & Business Development teams on a variety of issues to include: new business opportunities, operational execution, customer concerns, talent planning, etc. Actively engage in business reviews with partners while collaborating with them to improve performance. Stay current on industry developments including internal, external customer and market factors that can affect profitability of the business.

  • Operational Excellence: Support execution of daily operational activities across multiple sites, supporting a variety of customers and their needs. Ensure all business processes are successfully executed to include daily, weekly and monthly continuous improvement venues. Be a solution provider and a partner to address operational concerns and/or inefficiencies. Guide leaders to execute actions ensuring delivery of the company's long term strategic plan.

  • Strategy: Own the development, leadership and execution of the operational strategic plan inclusive of project selection, resource management and technology innovation for your market. Assist in vetting and prioritizing projects, determining 3rd party partners and soliciting innovative strategies for the company. Collaborate with Commercial & Business Development teams to identify new business opportunities ensuring future pipeline for growth is healthy. Identify new ways to help the C&S Family of Companies execute the Strategic Growth Plan and deliver expectations.

  • People Leadership: Constantly assess if the team has the right structure and talent to support the business needs. Be a developer and exporter of talent for the organization through focused succession and development planning. Be a coach and mentor, enabling development of current and next generation leaders. Actively network and recruit for external talent. Analyze and evaluate local and regional people performance against specific objectives, identifying areas of potential cost reduction and continually improving business processes. Develop relationships and partnerships within the organization and externally that allow for effective execution of a highly matrixed organization.

Skills

  • Specialized Knowledge : Supply Chain Operations, Warehouse Automation, WMS, TMS, etc. Working knowledge of financial analysis and operational analysis; Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and email software.

  • Special Skills : Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality when required, strong leadership and management skills through a direct and matrixed organization, strong oral and written communication skills. Able to communicate complex and detailed information. Extensive experience and skill in retail distribution processes, logistics, supply chain management, warehouse operations, and transportation management preferred. Very strong leadership skills including team facilitation, training, and motivation; able to work well with all levels of team members with different backgrounds and needs

Years Of Experience

  • 10-15 : Progressive leadership roles and responsibilities providing guidance and mentorship, preferably in a Supply Chain Operations role (Warehouse / Transportation / Manufacturing/Automation)

  • 5-7 : Proven successful third party logistics and / or CPG leadership. Wholesale operations and understanding is a plus.

  • 5-7 : Multisite leadership responsibility in a matrixed organization preferred
