Ford Motor Company Design & Release Engineer- Lighting System in Chennai, India
To establish lighting performance targets for various programs
Understands cost targets /estimates and develops delivery plans including tough choices and recovery plan (if required) in line with program cost & budgets
Understands and actively supports program sourcing strategies in line with purchasing, finance and program timing needs
To work very closely with supplier product development teams during proposal development
To work closely with design studio teams to review the feasibility of surfaces released and providing feedback and issue resolution
Overall project management for lighting system
Tracks AIMS & Concern status and supports timely close-out of issues
Providing analyses and resolutions on faults and/or errors
Communicate issues with key stakeholders in a professional manner. Flexibility to work in different time zones to support business
Supports and enforces program specific milestone approvals
Supporting CAD-based (DPA) and Physical Design Verification (DV) testing to support Engineering Sign-Off
Support launch (both onsite & offsite) whenever it’s required
Support homologation / regulatory testing at test locations like ARAI, NATRIP etc.
Design & Release of lighting system commodities for new and mid cycle action programs which includes design & release actions in CAD / PDM tools like 3DX, CATIA etc.
Lead interface between Engineering, Studio, Purchasing, Supplier, Manufacturing, Craftsmanship & Quality Teams to ensure quality, on-time & on-cost delivery of these systems & components.
Ensure compatibility with all other interfacing systems.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mech / Prod / Auto) or above with 4-7 years of experience in lighting system in OEM / tier 1 lighting supplier
Hands on Design and Release Experience in lighting system (Head lamp, DRL, rear tail lamp, fog lamp etc) either in a OEM or Tier 1 lighting supplier.
Abreast of emerging technologies in lighting system
Expertise in Design & PDM tools like 3DX, CATIA…
Knowledge in auto electronics system and lighting modules pertaining Experience in cost estimation for lighting system
Knowledge in lighting optics
Experience in WCCA, SPEOS, regulatory requirements
Demonstrated ability to lead the issue resolution process. A broad understanding of all major vehicle systems and a customer focused mindset is required to facilitate this process.
Excellent project management skills & expertise in MS project
