The Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector in Waynesboro, VA has an immediate opening in the Networked Information Solutions (NIS) Division, for a Mission Assurance Manager 3 to join our team. Telecommute/remote is not an option for this position. This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80, Monday-Friday.

The Mission Assurance Manager 3 will have responsibility as the site Quality Leader at a new state of the art greenfield facility. You will be leading a manager and the technical and professional staff that reports to them in a high-paced environment, which will include the following responsibilities:

This position may initially be based in Charlottesville, VA for approximately 1 year and will then transition to the Waynesboro, VA facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will Lead the Quality Organization (approximate 26 heads) at the Waynesboro, VA manufacturing site.

  • You will achieve AS9100 certification in 2026.

  • Develop, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

  • Ensuring the Quality/Mission Assurance, Manufacturing, and Engineering processes are consistent with industry capability maturity models and QMS standards (e.g. CMMI-DEV, ISO 9001, and AS9100);

  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.

  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

  • Manage the Quality Engineering Organization within the larger organizational unit, setting & operating to objectives & providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives & company policy.

  • Regularly performs analysis of alternative courses of action. Decisions have risk/reward implications for program or area of influence.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with other functional managers, process center leaders, value stream leaders and value stream owner(s) to meet division, value stream, and quality objectives.

  • Establishes operating procedures that affect organizational unit(s). Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to organizational policies. Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect subordinate organizational units.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with the manufacturing and design teams to achieve product and site goals and overall program quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved.

  • Accountable for Quality resource and budget planning

  • Accountable to ensure Quality Management System is effective and followed.

  • Facilitate root cause determination and resolve quality issues, including nonconformance (NC), corrective action (CA)

  • Responsible for ensuring functional management goals and processes are meaningful, data driven, and being executed to plan.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree AND a minimum of 9 years of professional/military experience in in quality engineering, program management, hardware/software engineering, system test, and/or manufacturing. (7+ years of experience with a master’s degree)

  • Experience managing the Quality Engineering Organization within a larger organizational unit. setting & operating to objectives & providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives & company policy.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

  • Experience with CAM/Earned Value

  • Experience in staffing, planning, risk management, and technical quality for related Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • World Class Manufacturing

  • Experience with contract conformance.

  • Experience collaborating and coordinating with other functional managers, process center leaders, value stream leaders and value stream owner(s) to meet division, value stream, and quality objectives.

  • In depth understanding of AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.

  • Experience in staffing, planning, risk management, and technical quality for related Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements.

  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

  • Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.

  • Calibration experience.

Salary Range: $141,900 - $212,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
