Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Utility Pipe Layer to join our construction team at a waste water treatment plant. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals experienced in utility pipe laying and construction to contribute to the development of essential infrastructure. The role involves working in a dynamic environment with the potential for overtime hours and career advancement.

Responsibilities:

  1. Pipe Installation: Lay and install various types of utility pipes, including sewer, water, and drainage pipes, according to project specifications and blueprints.

  2. Excavation: Excavate trenches and prepare the ground for pipe installation using appropriate machinery and tools.

  3. Alignment: Ensure proper alignment and grade of pipes during installation to meet project requirements and prevent future issues.

  4. Pipe Connections: Join pipes together using appropriate techniques such as gluing, or sealing to create a watertight and secure connection.

  5. Backfilling: Backfill trenches and compact soil around pipes to provide stability and support to the installed infrastructure.

  6. Quality Control: Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure adherence to safety standards, quality guidelines, and project specifications.

  7. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning and longevity.

  8. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other construction team members, including equipment operators, supervisors, and laborers, to efficiently complete tasks and achieve project goals.

  9. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others on the construction site.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in utility pipe laying and construction preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.

  • Proficiency in operating excavation equipment such as excavators, backhoes, and trenchers.

  • Strong understanding of pipe materials, sizes, and installation techniques.

  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
