Speedwell Construction Traveling Superintendent in Charlotte, North Carolina

We are looking for experienced traveling construction superintendents who are driven and skilled at completing successful projects! A willingness to travel frequently and the ability to operate in different areas are also vital to success in this role.

A field superintendent typically has at least two years of managerial experience in some construction projects. These projects may range in cost from $500,000 to $30 million or more. They will provide on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating multiple subcontractors, materials, and equipment while also ensuring that all construction documents are followed and work is proceeding efficiently and on schedule. They also mentor, lead, motivate, and teach field personnel.

Essential Functions:

The ability to travel and manage out-of-town work.

-Schedule and sequence subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and vendors in an overlapping fashion to reach superior levels of efficiency

-Produce and execute a three-week schedule

-Schedule and coordinate all required inspections, including those required for our sub-contractors, when needed

-Ensure that the subcontractor is executing and complying with their scope of work and correcting all deficiencies identified by the project team

-Understand both the site layout and typical building layout procedures

-Lead required subcontractor meetings and preconstruction meetings to coordinate the work

-Perform quality control checks to verify that the work in place meets the expectations of Speedwell, the design team, local municipalities, and the owner

-Identify conflicts and issues in the construction process and communicate them to the project team for resolution

-Work to meet local township requirements

-Communicate with the project team regarding Submittals, Shop drawings, Change Orders, and Requests for Information (RFI)

-Maintain a consistent daily log of activities on the job site through the daily reporting software

-Develop and maintain open lines of communication with industry partners such as customers, engineers, architects, inspectors, sub-contractors, and fellow employees

-Maintain a clean and organized job site

-Identify all forms of site safety and hold all subcontractors and other personnel to the OSHA standards and Speedwell Safety Standards

-Develop, manage, and complete a punch list with extreme attention to detail and the utmost speed

-Able to put work in place if the situation requires

-Mentor less experienced Speedwell field personnel

Preferred Education and Experience:

-Minimum of 3 years in jobsite management

-Minimum of OSHA 10-hour certification and preferred OSHA 30-hour certification

-Basic understanding of Information Technology

-CPR/First Aid certification

-Experience with various construction trades

-Experience in commercial or industrial construction

Work Authorization/Clearances:

The employee must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and Motor Vehicle Record review. The employee must have a current driver's license.
