The Hartford is seeking a Solutions Architect to join our HIMCO and Corporate IT architecture team supporting Investments, Finance, HR, Legal, Marketing and Shared applications domain as we progress through our portfolio transformation and modernization objective and migrating to AWS cloud.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to Lead Line of Business Architect, HIMCO & Corporate IT

  • Works in close co-operation with teams across supporting business units, infrastructure, and shared services

    This is a technical leadership position that requires 8+ years of experience in IT with 2+ years of strong experience in application design & development skills with excellent communication skills. This position will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing innovative end to-end software architectures that enable strategic business objectives. Designs produced must meet both business and non-functional requirements while aligning to standard reference architectures.

    Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current application portfolio and architect solutions leveraging SAAS and Native Cloud architectures and services, including integrations to other Cloud based solutions in hybrid and multi-cloud models.

  • Closely work with application tech leads and app owners to align the solutions to LOB's technical and business objectives.

  • Be the Innovation Architect that works across the Hartford Group looking for innovation ideas. Work with the business identifying PoCs and take an active role in running these PoCs.

  • Establishing and driving clear, effective, and innovative cloud solution designs aligning our HIMCO /Corp IT solutions in Finance (Peoplesoft, Coupa, Apttio) Marketing (CMS, Hartford internal and external site), Enterprise Risk Management (ArcGIS, Archer etc.), HIMCO investments platforms and data science integrations.

  • Working in an Agile environment, while designing and delivering incremental solutions aligned to the broader Intentional Architecture goals.

  • Develop and align solutions to The Hartford’s reference architectures, blueprints, and business and IT strategies across The Hartford’s Corp IT and HIMCO landscape.

  • Collaborate with enterprise Cloud and Infrastructure teams as part of a cross functional team while creating and socializing AWS Cloud solution designs.

  • Contribute to LOB's and Enterprise architectural standards and designs to be leveraged throughout the enterprise.

  • Contributing to the HIMCO/Corp IT multi-year roadmaps while providing clear direction on business and IT strategies, and the technologies necessary to meet strategic business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in IT with 2+ years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing robust enterprise level solutions with a broad understanding of traditional and modern software technology frameworks, platforms, vendor software solutions, development tools, and processes.

  • The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills with ability to effectively communicate solution recommendations and influence key stakeholders.

  • Experience migrating solutions to cloud platforms. In-depth knowledge of AWS services, deep understanding of cloud, hybrid cloud and container deployment architectures including building cloud-ready applications and container orchestration systems.

  • Strong knowledge of integration and middleware technologies including but not limited to: API, micro service, and event driven architecture concepts

  • The candidate must have understanding and experience with AI, ML and integrating data science models real-time into operation systems as well as Cloud

  • Good understanding of designing and implementing solutions integrating with COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) packages, experience with Publishing and Document Management solutions.

  • Strong Knowledge of developing reusable assets such as prototypes, solution designs, documentation and other materials that contribute to department and organization effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Experience with DevOps practices including but not limited to continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) concepts and tools, familiarity with automated testing and code analysis tools.

  • Experience in supporting Finance Line of Business functions like Financial Systems and Technology like Peoplesoft ERP , Accounts Receivable and Payable , Treasury management , Tax planning and Compliance , Internal Audits , Budgeting and Forecasting , Expense allocations would be added advantage

  • Good understanding of working with agile development teams, methodologies, and toolsets.

    This role is based in one of the following office locations: Hartford, CT, Chicago, IL or Charlotte, NC office on a hybrid basis (Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday in the office)

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$125,360 - $188,040
