Actalent Solidworks Designer in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Title: Mechanical DrafterJob Description

The Mechanical Drafter will be responsible for creating, modifying, and updating technical drawings for the company's product portfolio. Collaborating with the Engineering Team, the drafter will develop engineered solutions to meet customer needs and align with industry trends for product expansion and growth. The role requires a team-oriented individual who can also work autonomously on daily tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Engineering Team on product specifications, manufacturability, and technical product aspects.

  • Facilitate, update, and maintain the product drawing database according to company-wide drawing and engineering standards.

  • Create technical drawings, manufacturing schematics, and 2D and 3D digital models of mechanical assemblies, adhering to geometry constraints and specifications.

  • Utilize drafting skills using the Dassault Systèmes platform to develop detailed concepts and illustrations.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for drafting in SolidWorks and the effective use of related software.

  • Provide drafting support during the conceptual development of non-standard projects and industry-standard unit adaptations.

Essential Skills

  • Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA).

  • Proficient in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.

  • Detail-oriented in inputting data and BOMs into SolidWorks plug-in systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Mechanical Drafting or Engineering Technology with 3+ years of experience, or a High School Diploma with 5+ years of mechanical drafting experience.

  • Experience in the mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial industry.

  • CSWP (Certified SolidWorks Professional) is preferred.

  • Familiarity with raw materials production processes and techniques.

  • Experience in the bearings industry is advantageous.

Work Environment

This role offers a collaborative environment within a small but growing engineering team. The company culture is laid-back, promoting a good work-life balance with opportunities for hybrid work and schedule flexibility. The new office building features a large warehouse, currently operating at 50% capacity, with plans for expansion. The team aims to grow from 5 to 10 members by next year, reflecting the company's ongoing growth through acquisitions and the introduction of engineering solutions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
