Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The SDS Graduate Coordinator will have operational oversight for the new Ph.D. in Data Science. The Coordinator will lead recruitment, retention, and reporting efforts for the doctoral program and will participate in strategic planning for the broader administration of the SDS graduate programs supporting the HIA and DSBA graduate programs.

Provide strategic guidance and recruitment for the Data Science Ph.D. program, the HIA , and the DSBA graduate programs. Manage Ph.D. admissions, student progress, funding, and evaluations. Oversee enrollment, faculty advising, and academic petitions. Ensure program policies adhere to UNC Charlotte’s Graduate School standards. Coordinate with Campus partners to student success and an inclusive learning environment.

Minimum Experience / Education:

Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration or a related discipline, or a Master’s degree in Data Science/Analytics or a related discipline, with two years experience in teaching, assessment, advising, and/or program administration.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in academic advising in higher education preferably working with students in STEM areas.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Experience working in a cross-disciplinary environment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and college/university boundaries in a university setting.

  • Combined knowledge of data science subject matter and IT industries with recent training or direct experience in higher education administration.

  • Experience with academic information systems and experience with effective use of social media are highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of university systems such as eGPS, NinerWorks, Banner, Report Central, etc.
