Wells Fargo Principal Engineer - Critical Infrastructure Operations in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer that will report to the head of Critical Infrastructure Operations (CIO). As Wells Fargo technology continues to evaluate product alignment through synergies that can be leveraged with proximity of product journeys, this senior position will be responsible for establishing and overseeing assured delivery of all key technology roadmaps developed in partnership with engineering and operations teams. Technology areas include network, proxy, firewall, cross configuration engineering solutions and compliance assurance. The principal engineer will be responsible for communicating and interlocking with the broader engineering and operations community to assure alignment and stability improvement of products aligned to CIO.

You will collaborate and work closely with our product engineering and delivery organizations, to enable fast and smooth delivery of transformation into the production environment whilst working with operations teams to prevent issues and protect the stability of the production environment.

You will be responsible for providing guidance, research, and collaboration toward service level management, incident and problem management, asset and configuration management, monitoring and event management, capacity and performance management for all product areas supported by Critical Infrastructure Operations. Understand associated policy, process and controls to ensure adherence to requirements.

In addition, you will manage and develop strong agile and devops practices to provide efficient and effective utilization of resources, motivate and cultivate a culture of identifying engineering innovation and improvement opportunities, and drive the adoption of site reliability engineering principles/practices.

In this role, you will:

  • Spearhead research and evaluation of new technologies spanning multiple technology domains

  • Collaborate and provide solution engineering designs across Critical Infrastructure Operations teams on their engineering work and assist team members to make informed decisions in alignment with individual and collective strategic plans

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups

  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas of the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions

  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

  • Translate advanced technology experience, and in-depth knowledge of the organization's tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions

  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommend innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization

  • Engage and influence stakeholders, internal partners, and peers

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for technology operations process improvement and development

  • Leverage metrics to support infrastructure associated with applications that are highly automated, and latency sensitive, client facing and internal applications consumed by the Business

  • Drive key strategic initiatives associated with infrastructure availability

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 3+ years of technology release or implementation experience

  • 7+ years of technology infrastructure experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of architecture, engineering, or a combination of both, with networking technologies

  • 5+ years experience building, managing, and supporting mission-critical, 24x7 production processes and systems

  • 3+ years of experience supporting technology in a regulated environment

  • 3+ years of experience with Agile practices, experience with modern software engineering technologies and tool sets to transform network services organization
