Hi-Way Paving, Inc. Mechanic (Heavy Diesel Equipment) in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

The Diesel Mechanic/Heavy Equipment performs equipment and truck repair and maintenance work in accordance with factory and industry standards, runs diagnostics on equipment, and works closely with other team members to meet job site and company construction timelines and goals.

We are currently seeking candidates that will help us execute our project in Charlotte, NC with the possibility of travel to other projects in North Carolina and Tennessee as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor and major repairs on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance and inspections on service equipment.
  • Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop.
  • Collaborate with operators and managers to diagnose problems with equipment and plan repairs.
  • Perform regular diagnostic tests on equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on equipment.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Assist Superintendents and Project Managers with other operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Heavy (Construction) Equipment, preferred.
  • Valid CDL license; hazardous materials endorsement, preferred.
  • ASE Diesel Certification, preferred.
  • Able to work nights and weekends.
  • Ability to gain clearance in restricted/high-security zones. (Airport AOA, Military Bases, etc.)
  • Must be able to travel up to 100% of the time.
  • Physical capabilities required are climbing, lifting, carrying a minimum of 75 lbs., standing, sitting, walking, entering confined spaces, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and performing repetitive actions.
