Siemens Energy CNC Horizontal Machinist – Large Generator Rotors (2nd Shift, Mon – Fri, 4:00pm – 12:00am) in Charlotte, North Carolina
A Snapshot of Your Day
The 2nd shift rotor horizontal machinist sets up and operates the CNC (Complex Numeric Control) horizontal boring and slotter machines in order to perform various operations on a variety of parts and components
How You’ll Make an Impact
Mill and drill features on large electrical generatorrotor shafts, which are typically made from 50 to 70-ton high alloy steelforgings.
Manufacture a variety of alloy steel generatorcomponents and in-house tools using CNC machine tools and, occasionally,manual machine tools.
Set up and operate one or more of the following machinetools: Ingersoll CNC Floor-Type Horizontal Boring Mill (19.5 metertravel), Giddings & Lewis FTR3500 CNC Floor-Type Horizontal BoringMill (4 meter travel), Giddings & Lewis FTR5000 CNC Floor-TypeHorizontal Boring Mill (14 meter travel), Ingersoll CNC Gantry-TypeMulti-Spindle Mill, and Mazak CNC 5-axis machining center with PALLETECHsystem, as well as various manual drills and mills.
Teach and/or mentor employees in the Siemens EnergyApprenticeship Program.
Engage in continuous improvement by applying 5Smethodology as a component of a Lean production system.
What You Bring (requirement
Must havehigh school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or trade schoolcertificate is preferred.
6+ years ofCNC milling / drilling experience
A basicknowledge of machine shop operations together with the ability tounderstand complex drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
Ability touse various types of precision measuring instruments.
Ability toobtain fork truck and crane license. Previous experience is preferred.
· Successful applicants must be able to pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests.
- Must also beable to read, write, understand, and follow verbal and/or writteninstructions in English.
· Must be able to live and work legally in the United States.
