Roper St. Francis Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator - Medical Staff Services - Remote in Charleston, South Carolina

Job Summary : Credentialing: Responsible for the credentialing process of new applicants (Physicians and Allied Health Professionals) in accordance with federal (CMS) The Joint Commission (TJC) and South Carolina state regulations. This position may also attend the Credentials Committee, CMEC and other meetings as required, establish professional lines of communication with all levels of Leadership and all Credentials Committee members to assure the timely completion of the credentialing process. Responsible for the distribution of all Board correspondence and hospital department notification of new medical staff members. The Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator is also responsible for collaborating with Managed Care to ensure processes and procedures detailed in the RSFH Credentialing Plan (the Plan) are compliant; accurate data is submitted in accordance with CMS and with Federal, State, and national accrediting agency(s) standards which leads to the appointment and reappointment of RSFPP/RSFH physicians for employment and managed care participation. Responsible for administrative support to the Manager, Medical Staff Services.

Minimum Qualifications :

Education: H.S. Diploma or GED Required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience: No experience necessary but at least two years or more experience in the medical staff services, managed care field, or healthcare work environment preferred. Medical Staff Credentialing experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification : Certification through National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as Provider Credential Specialist CPCS) or Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) at date of hire is preferred, but is a required to obtain within 5 years of start date if not already certified. Certification for current RSFH staff members who have been working in the Medical Staff Services Department for more than five years is preferred but not required. Membership in National, State, or local Medical Staff Services Professional organization preferred.

Knowledge/Skills: Possess organizational and communication skills. Medical terminology knowledge desirable. Proficiency in database reports, Microsoft Word, Excel. Experience in previous medical staff office or healthcare work environment preferred, medical terminology experience or certification is required, excellent organizational skills a must, as well as professional communication abilities. Must be computer literate, with ability to learn new software programs as needed. Ability to handle multiple priorities, as well as multiple deadlines.

Contacts : Physicians/Providers, physician’s/provider’s office staff, insurance companies, state and federal agencies, SC Medical Board, hospital Board members, Consolidated Medical Executive and Combined Credentials Committee members, credentialing organizations, visitors, volunteers as well as Medical Staff Offices, Human Resource Departments, administrative staff, and hospital staff both local and nationwide.
