Brighton Health Plan Solutions, LLC Senior Accountant in Chapel Hill, North Carolina

About the Role

BHPS has a great opportunity for a REMOTE Senior Accountant to join the Finance Team. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting transactions and ownership of certain functions within the financial close process, including performing analysis and reconciliations, as well as other ad hoc accounting requests. 

This Senior Accountant role is best suited for someone who is (i) detail oriented: (ii) who loves controlling data, and (iii) who loves using Excel to analyze, to validate, and to explain.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the monthly closing of the Company’s books and records.

  • Review and analyze account details and prepare all monthly closing journal entries.

  • Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.

  • Maintain general ledger and sub-ledger accounts.

  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.

  • Gather necessary information to develop accruals of revenue and expenses.

  • Analyze financial data and create monthly reporting for management.

  • Provide audit schedules and supporting documentation.

  • Responsible for tracking and accounting of Individual Dispute Resolution (IDR) transactions.  Prepare monthly reporting and billing of Individual Dispute Resolution activity for clients and management.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly membership reporting to be shared with management.

  • Own process of Credit Balance and Subrogation Recoveries ensuring all recoveries received are processed. by claims department and then appropriately accounted for and returned to clients.

  • Execute on specific financial processes in support of Cash Management Operations.

  • Support other accounting team members and perform ad hoc finance department projects as requested.

  • Serve as a back-up for other accounting functions as needed.

    Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

  • 5+ years of experience in an accounting function.

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel and confident with VLOOKUP, PIVOT TABLES, INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS formulas.

  • Demonstrated strength in financial analysis.

  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data as necessary.

  • Strong attention to detail and time management.

  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

  • A strong work ethic, and interpersonal skills that encourage teamwork.

  • Tolerance for adapting to evolving priorities.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years public accounting experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX
