Job Description

This position is responsible for the general fabrication of mechanical parts. The role involves using pneumatic or electric hand tools to perform tasks such as deburring or surface preparation of metal parts. The position requires the ability to follow both written and verbal work instructions, interface with the enterprise timekeeping system, and operate machine controls. Additionally, the role involves using and reading basic machine shop measuring equipment including dial calipers, tape measures, and protractors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general fabrication of mechanical parts.

  • Use pneumatic or electric hand tools for deburring and surface preparation of metal parts.

  • Follow written and verbal work instructions.

  • Interface with the enterprise timekeeping system and machine controls.

  • Use and read basic machine shop measuring equipment such as dial calipers, tape measures, and protractors.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a fabrication environment doing fabrication and welding.

  • Ability to grind metal for prep work or deburring according to verbal and written instructions.

  • Basic use of hand and power tools.

  • Proficiency in reading a tape measure and accurately marking or scribing locations within 1/16" (.062").

  • Basic knowledge of welding with formal training in GMAW and an understanding of FCAW.

  • Good understanding of basic weld symbols and blueprint reading.

  • Qualified in flat (1F and 1G) and horizontal (2F and 2G) welding positions.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance and over 50 lbs. with assistance.

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with all welding shop power tools.

  • Basic ability to read welding symbols and prints.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, push, pull, and grasp.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a standard manufacturing environment. The worker has protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The role involves exposure to hazards such as electrical currents, moving mechanical parts, chips, dust, chemicals, debris, and intense heat. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 6 AM - 3:00 PM, with an average of 5-8 hours of overtime per week. The worker must be willing to work overtime and weekends. Steel-toed shoes/boots, work jeans/pants, and a plain T-shirt are required attire.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chandler, Arizona.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
