Allstate Floral Inc. Jr. Staff Accountant in Cerritos, California
Allstate Floral is looking for an experienced and dedicated accounting professional to maintain and interpret company financial records. This person will be responsible for a variety of financial tasks crucial to the success of our business, including invoicing and maintaining financial records, performing weekly reconciliation of accounts, and handling year-end tax reporting activities. As a go-to financial expert, the accounting professional will help identify areas for streamlining processes and achieving greater efficiencies while assisting with the smooth daily operations of our accounting department.
The junior staff accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Objectives of This Role:
Perform accounting duties within a fast-paced finance department while adhering to established standards
Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable, following up on invoices when necessary
Liaise with the accounts payable and payroll departments
Help uphold the integrity of the company’s finances
Ensure that the company adheres to applicable local and national regulations that impact finances
Duties/Responsibilities:
Assists the VP of Finance in preparation of monthly financial statements.
Maintains the general ledger.
Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
Assists external auditors by gathering necessary account information and documents to perform annual audits.
Manages the purchasing and invoicing system, including ensuring all invoices match purchasing logs.
Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
Reconciles customer accounts and vendor accounts.
Handles releasing of customer orders.
Communicate directly with customers and vendors at times, including gathering any required documents.
Performs other related duties as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Two or more years of experience in an accounting role
Proficiency with standard systems and spreadsheets for invoicing and billing
Knowledge of standard accounting and bookkeeping principles and best practices
Significant experience with office productivity applications (Microsoft Office), with a strong aptitude for learning new systems and approaches
Competency with at least one financial planning or accounting software package (preferably NetSuite)
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities at the same time, whether working independently or as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of company financial information
Ability to correctly prepare tax reports
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to speak/write in Spanish and/or Chinese language
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Salary Range
$70,000-$80,000 annual salary, depending on experience.
