LOCATION:Queen Anne's County, Maryland
JOB SUMMARY
Oversees the daily operation of assigned recreation camps and with limited supervisor is responsible for the direct organization and leadership of a variety of recreation programs, including but not limited to supervising building/field usage, sporting events, club house operations, and special events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Open and close programs, buildings, and fields according to established guidelines.
Supervise daily camp, programs activities, sports programs, special events and field usage and enforce Queen Annes County program rules, Field Usage Policy, and Youth Camp Standards.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding camper progress, concerns, and overall camp activities. Address concerns/issues and provide resolutions.
Plan, implement, participate, and evaluate programs, and field trips. Provide recommendations for improvements or changes to programs along with need supplies/equipment to Recreation Manager.
Supervise children and Recreation Leaders I, II, and III.Report concerns/issues to Recreation Manager immediately.
Foster a positive camp culture that encourages teamwork, respect, and personal growth among campers and staff.
Provide mentoring and training to other Recreation Leaders as part of their ongoing development.
Attend meetings, enforce Queen Annes County Parks and Recreation policies, program rules and Youth Camp Standards.
Responsible for working closely with parents, and Queen Annes County Parks and Recreation Staff.
Responsible for coordinating staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage based on number of campers.
Responsible for adherence to proper set up and cleaning before and after recreation activities, programs, events, etc., ensuring a safe environment for campers.
Lead and/or assist with games, activities and a variety of team sports as needed.
Lead and/or assist with preparing materials for recreation programs and events as needed.
Responsible for reporting and writing all reportable incidents and damages to supervisor.
Ensuring accuracy of timesheets, verification of vouchers and schedule adherence, etc.
Responsible for cash handling and ensuring accuracy of cash handling policy.
Lead and accompany participants on hikes, field trips, special events and outside activities.
Provide cordial, responsive, and accurate customer service.
Communicate with school facility and support staff to ensure proper use school facilities.
Adhere to safety guidelines to prevent injuries/illnesses.
Ensure medication is properly administered to campers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.Ability to effectively present information in one -on-one and small group situations to customers.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detail but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to solve problems involving campers, parents and staff.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CPR/First Aid certifications required.
Medication Administration training preferred.
Possession of a Class C Maryland Motor Vehicle Operators License (or the equivalent from another issuing state) or the ability to obtain such a license within thirty (30) days of employment to position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be 21* years old or older and have a high school diploma or GED.At least two completed years of college or at least four years of experience working with youth in the field of parks and recreation, physical education, childcare, or a related field required. Teaching and/or supervisory preferred.
*Age restriction is based on COMAR regulations for working with children in camp settings.
