The Communication Products Engineering Department in Mission Systems has an opening for a Principal Radio Frequency (RF) Electrical Engineer P4. This Principal RF Engineer will design and develop RF hardware used in high-performance communication products, such as sophisticated software-defined radios, amplifiers, receivers, exciters, and data links designed for various ground, airborne, and space applications.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Apply electrical engineering principles and techniques to design, develop, document, verify, support, and troubleshoot RF hardware for communication products. Designs may use amplifiers, filters, mixers, circulators, synthesizers, etc.
Perform circuit card design lifecycle activities, including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, and signal integrity analysis. Create board stack-up and routing instructions. Coordinate and review printed wiring board layout, create test plans, perform root cause analysis, and integration.
Work closely with a multidiscipline team to ensure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product's lifecycle, including supporting integration and testing of the final product.
Lead circuit card hardware development activities. Prepare and present project and/or technical information to peers, internal management, and customers. This includes producing technical documentation, including specifications, hardware design documents, and test plans. Apply cost and schedule management methods to projects.
Perform trade studies as needed and select components necessary to implement the requirements.
Coordinate hardware design reviews and ensure that appropriate design documentation is generated.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 6 years OR
In the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have or be capable of obtaining a U.S. DOD Secret Clearance. The candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with schematic capture of electrical circuit designs. Includes familiarity with a schematic capture tool (examples may include Mentor Graphics xDxDesigner and/or Xpedition, Altium, Cadence Allegro, EAGLE, KiCAD, etc.) for the creation of circuit card designs.
Familiarity with RF design tools such as MATLAB, AWR Microwave Office, pSpice, Keysight ADS, and Ansys HFSS.
Experience with Agile development methodologies, including planning, tracking, and managing hardware development tasks in JIRA, is a plus.
Familiarity with EE lab equipment such as multimeters, signal sources, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers.
Ability to prepare bids and proposals.
Understanding of Project management and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
Ability to mentor and guide more junior engineers.
Ability to effectively communicate project status or issues to peers and management.
