Unilever Quality Improvement Specialist in Cavite, Philippines

MAIN JOB PURPOSE

The Quality Improvement Specialist is a Focused and Continuous Quality Improvement specialist engaged to prevent quality issues related to innovations and changes, and also responsible in eliminating Quality and consumer / customer related product incidents and complaints.

The Quality Improvement Specialist is technically competent, qualified, skilled, and capable to conduct incident investigation, manage the cross functional team (Production, Logistics, Engineering, Quality, R&D and Planning) involved in the examination of the incident. Knowledge and skill on use of problem-solving tools such as 5G, 5W1H, 4M Analysis, Why-Why Analysis, Process Point Analysis, TWTTP, HERCA, and Quality Matrices are required to dynamically enable the team to carry out the incident analysis and carry on prioritization. He/She initiates the investigation, facilitates the accomplishment of the QEWO, conducts root cause analysis and recommends the necessary correction, corrective actions, process improvements, and horizontally deploys the newly defined standard to other lines and assure the sustainability of implementation.

The Quality Improvement Specialist actively works with the Process Engineers and ManEx team in the identification of process improvements (Kaizens) which shall greatly impact product quality, consumer / customer safety and regulatory compliance. The position is expected to deliver leadership in the shopfloor, provision of visual line controls, and guidance to the machine operators to ensure sustainable execution of continual improvement in the site.

The Quality Improvement Specialist is responsible for providing regular analysis of Manufacturing D Incidents, Consumer and Customer Complaints, FOM Tool kit, HACCP Compliance, Hazard Control Plan, Quality Matrices, Continual Improvement Projects, and initiatives.

In case of any innovations/ changes, the Quality Improvement Specialist is responsible to monitor end to end activities to ensure all quality standards/ requirements are in place for flawless execution.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for the tracking Key Performance Indicators of the site related to Quality and Consumer / Customer Safety

  • Leads the cross-functional team composed of representatives from Production, Engineering, and Quality on the generation of QEWO and gathering of relevant data to support the investigation of product quality, consumer and customer complaints and consumer safety incidents

  • Ensures Incident Ds are reported in Quality One within 72 hours of detection and investigation closed within 90 days

  • Develops training, guidance documents and visual controls on defined corrective actions and support horizontal deployment of improvements to other lines

  • Facilitates the regular conduct of the Quality Incident Review meeting and follow through on the agreed actions and status of execution

  • Identifies Quality Improvement and Quality related waste reduction projects and lead implementation of the identified improvement program

  • Develops the Quality Matrix as tool to manage the prioritization of Quality issues and problems of the site as well as the reactive, preventive, cost matrices and the FOM toolkit developed as tools for prioritization

  • Develops and executes the implementation of Quality Plan, HACCP Hazard Control Plan in the site as well as the 7 Step QM and PPA for continual improvement

  • Conducts process capability studies and identifies areas for improvement which could translate to cost optimization and product quality enhancement

  • Conducts on-site verification of the flow process diagram and leads the Gemba to review actual implementation of process and controls on quality and consumer safety

  • Fully operational knowledge on UMS/WCM tools and Quality Pillar structure

  • Conducts FG audit and verifies the noted products defects seen from the pallets audit, communicates with the machine operators such defects for immediate correction

  • Prepares the line clearance visual control for existing and new products

  • Ensures that all filling lines comply with the GMP and GHK requirements and standards.

  • Receives and records all Product Returned by Distribution (pallet non-conformances) and categorizes the defects according to the defect loss tree

  • Reports to the Quality Manager as the need arises all quality issues, product on hold and critical product quality incidents for immediate action and disposition

Minimum Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Graduate of Chemical Engineering/Chemistry

  • Preferably Licensed Chemical Engineer

  • Good people handling, coaching, and leadership skills

  • Problem solving and data analysis skills

  • Presentation skills (well versed in MS Office and Power Apps)

  • Reading, comprehension, and communication skills

  • Working knowledge in WCM, TPM, HACCP and HPC 420

  • Manufacturing experience in FMCG
