New York State Job Bank Machine Operator in Carthage, New York
CEM Machine a 100% employee-owned company, located in Carthage, NY. CEM is an essential employer that manufactures large woodchippers that primarily supports the pulp and paper industry. We are looking for an entry level or skilled machine operator to set up, maintain and operate machinery for first and/or second shift. A great machine operator is reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards.
Salary Commensurate with Experience.
Responsibilities
Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed) Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines Inspect parts with precision measuring tools Test operation of machines periodically Fix issues that might occur during the shift Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws Keep records of approved and defective units or final products Maintain activity logs and review production routings of jobs Duties as assigned by supervisor Skills
Proven experience as a machine operator Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery (CNC or manual: lathes, mills, surface grinders etc.) and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers etc.) Understanding of production procedures Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear) Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals Analytical skills Attention to detail Teamwork and communication skills Willingness to learn and grow High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus Must be able to lift and carry equipment and parts weighing up to 50lbs. Must be able to operate magnetic hoists and overhead cranes. Must have the ability to operate machinery, hand tools, and various measuring tools. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (2-3 hours minimum). Must be able to ascend and descend from different work surfaces.
