The Senior Electronics Technician is responsible for performing technical work in the maintenance, repair, calibration, and installation of various electronic equipment. This role involves distributing and maintaining laboratory test equipment for engineers, ensuring efficient operation of the laboratory environment, and arranging for the repair and calibration of major equipment. Under general supervision, the technician will perform skilled duties in soldering PCB components, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating equipment in the Electronics Laboratory, as well as maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing high-power electronics products such as 3-phase power supplies and motor drives.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair electronic device board circuitry, conducting failure investigations to the component level.
Hands-on experience in SMT parts soldering, such as replacing microprocessors.
Provide manufacturing test support, troubleshooting, fault isolation, and corrective actions.
Create test reports for functional and performance testing of electronics products.
Conduct engineering/development tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data.
Support product testing during integration, functional, design verification, performance, and qualification testing phases.
Install components, units, and printed circuit boards following specifications.
Fabricate parts, cables, and test fixtures, maintaining all work-related equipment.
Maintain and write work procedures and all related documentation for each task performed.
Customize units and make adjustments or repairs according to written specifications.
Order and maintain inventory of replacement parts for electronic test equipment, maintaining warranty, service, and repair records.
Create ADCNs for minor electronics assembly rework instructions per IPC standards.
Create engineering test and status reports.
Interface with customers/suppliers as needed to support troubleshooting the electronics assembly.
Essential Skills
IPC Certification
Reworking PCBs / PCB Rework, including soldering and desoldering components on PCB/PCBAs.
Building and setting up Test Boxes, including knowledge in cable/wire harnesses and wire connections.
Experience with high voltage equipment (5 kW up to 45 kVA) and power electronics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Hands-on experience using electronics equipment such as programmable power supplies, high-speed digital oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
Understanding and testing knowledge of serial communication hardware.
Strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
Work Environment
The work environment consists of a team of 10-15 members, including hardware engineers, software engineers, test engineers, and design engineers. The role offers the opportunity to move into various disciplines, providing ample learning and growth opportunities.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
