Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as aCentral Characterization Program (CCP) Mobile Loading Operations Managerto join our team. This positioncan be located at:

  • WIPP in Carlsbad, NM

  • Los Alamos National Labs, Los Alamos, NM

  • Idaho National Laboratories, Idaho Falls, ID

  • Savannah River Site, South Carolina.

The CCP Mobile Loading Operations Manager is responsible for managing, leading, and developing the CCP Packaging Transportation Operations group. Mentoring Mobile Loading team members and provide opportunities for professional development. Responsible for technical reviews of characterization/certification procedures used for data collection to determine whether the waste meets the WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria, and/or TRAMPAC requirements. Review and approve timesheets, expense reports for assigned personnel.

In order to accomplish this, the successful candidate will have an advanced knowledge of:

  • Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Type B Packages used for Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), and the applicable Safety Analysis Report for Packaging (SARP)

  • Transuranic Waste Authorized Methods for Payload Control (TRAMPAC)

  • WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC)

  • WIPP Documented Safety Analysis (DSA)

  • Implementing the elements of Conduct of Operations.

The successful candidate will also have demonstrated knowledge of:

  • WIPP Hazardous Waste Facility Permit (HWFP) Attachment C - Waste Analysis Plan (WAP)

  • WIPP Land Withdrawal Act (LWA)

  • Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) Quality Assurance Program Document (QAPD)

This position may require moderate to heavy domestic travel.

Exempt Salary Grade (34-36)

Minimum Requirements:These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and applications are the means of determination.

  • Bachelor-s degree with five (5) years of relevant experience, or

  • Associate-s degree with nine (9) years of relevant experience, or

  • High School Diploma or GED with thirteen (13) years of relevant experience is required.

  • Must have two (2) years of management experience.

  • Experience/Proficiency with Microsoft Applications is mandatory.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Q-Clearance.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. Citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous experience as CCP Transportation Certification Official.

  • Previous certifications and/or qualifications related to Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Detection.

  • Helium Leak Detection using Mass Spectrometer Leak Test equipment, and applicable portions of American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASN) Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A.

  • Knowledge of Hoisting and Rigging standards used within DOE.

Minimum salary $109,803 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate-s relevant experience and education.
