Lockheed Martin Materials and Processes Engineer, Senior (Level III) in Cape Canaveral, Florida

As a Materials and Processes Engineer, you will be engaged with work on a broad range of projects in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career.

Working side by side with designers, test and manufacturing engineers, you’ll use your education, experience and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of environments.

In this role you will:

• Select Materials and Processes (M&P) on new designs that will help defend our country, get hands-on manufacturing experience of the next satellite, or provide oversight to an extensive supply chain providing products critical to Mission Success

• Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments

• Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions

• Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials and processes

• Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers, and analyze test reports

• Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement

If selected you will need to obtain a DOD security clearance. US Citizenship required.

Successful applicants will typically possess 5 years of professional experience with a minimum education level of Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry / Chemical Engineering, Physics, or other Engineering related fields)


Basic Qualifications:

Skill Requirements:

• Experience in materials and processes engineering, for example: Metal finishing processes including plating, anodizing, chemical conversion coating, passivation; Organic materials such as paints, adhesives, lubricants, bonding; Components (CCAs and PWBs)

• Experience in Materials and Processes for product development, improvement, design, application and production

• Experience conducting problem investigations, failure analysis, and manufacturing operations

• Experience developing design, environmental and operational requirements for materials in aerospace applications

Security Clearance Requirements:

• To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.

• Qualified applicants must be eligible to obtain a Top Secret security clearance to be considered.

Desired Skills:

• Experience working with customers and teammates

• Experience reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications and providing guidance to design, stress, and manufacturing engineers

• Development and production program experience

• Knowledge of environmental and operational requirements for materials in missile applications

• Experience in a variety of materials and process engineering disciplines, for example: sealing and organic coating application for corrosion protection, bonding, cleaning, PWB/CCA manufacturing

• Experience supporting manufacturing engineers on the floor and working with suppliers

• Supplier auditing experience

• Experience in participating in major program milestone design reviews such as PDR and CDR

• Influencing corporate and industry standards

• Green or Black Belt with continuous improvement experience

• Demonstrated Technical Leadership

• Active Security clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
