Job Title: Manual Machinist

Job Description

As a Manual Machinist, you will be an integral part of our machine shop, responsible for producing high-quality parts and components for our manufacturing operations. Your expertise in operating manual machines will ensure the smooth and efficient production of replacement parts for our older machinery, which are no longer available for purchase. You will operate and maintain manual machines such as lathes, mills, and grinders, perform precision machining tasks based on engineering drawings and specifications, and ensure all parts meet quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain manual machines such as lathes, mills, and grinders.

  • Perform precision machining tasks based on engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Ensure all parts meet quality standards.

  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machines to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.

  • Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to understand machining requirements and priorities.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a Manual Machinist in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in a machine shop.

  • Familiarity with producing parts for older machinery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certification or training in machining or a related field.

Work Environment

The machine shop is a very comfortable and spacious work environment with mostly older, manual equipment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in all areas of the plant, including steel/composite-toed shoes, hair nets/beard nets, earplugs, safety glasses, and a hardhat or bump cap.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent County, DE

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $39.50 - $39.50/hr.
