Google Staff Software Engineer, Google Cloud, Qwiklabs in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

  • 7 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.

  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform products and services (e.g., Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with educational technology or online learning platforms.

  • Familiarity with G3 software development best practices.

  • Familiarity with major cloud service providers (GCP) and their managed Kubernetes services (EKS, AKS, GKE).

  • Familiarity with Java, Kotlin, Python, TypeScript, Ruby and Angular, and with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager).

You will own the strategic impact on the direction and deliverables of the Qwiklabs Content team, focus on building tools to empower content creators to create engaging and captivating content to educate cloud learners anywhere and anytime in the world, and will also participate in shaping the future of the Qwiklabs AI Infrastructure which will be the cornerstone in a number of applications in Qwiklabs. Be a technical leader and mentor, driving the architecture, design, and implementation of large-scale, highly distributed systems that power our cloud platform. Partner with cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges, deliver innovative solutions that make a real impact on our customers and the industry, and influence the problems to focus on making sure these problems are tractable.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Drive the vision, architecture and implementation of the Qwiklabs Content and AI platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and user-friendliness. Design intuitive systems and features to empower content creators to be more effective and efficient in creating learning experience for users of all skill levels.

  • Take on ambiguous, open-ended technical challenges related to resource management, content creation, publishing, and delivery.

  • Guide and mentor other engineers, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within the Qwiklabs team. Stay current with industry trends and technologies, and explore new ways to improve our products and services.

  • Collaborate with engineering managers, technical program managers, product managers, user experience designers, and other stakeholders to deliver projects.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategy of reliability, monitoring, security, documentation, and production hygiene processes.
