As a subsidiary of Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE: PWR), the Canacre team is comprised of technical experts in land, energy, and transportation development delivering accurate, innovative, and agile solutions to our business partners. We provide professional consulting services in land acquisition, environmental assessments, geospatial mapping, data management, web-based GIS, community relations, land feasibility studies, and permitting services. Canacre’s clients include developers, large scale utilities, and government entities that are involved in the planning and development of infrastructure energy projects across Canada and the United States. Canacre works on large-scale wind and solar power projects, high-voltage transmission lines, substations, pipeline projects, municipal roads projects, and groupings of cellular towers and rooftop antennas.

As legal counsel, you will be providing Senior Management with advice on strategies and their implementation, legislative compliance, risk management and legal analysis. This role will also largely focus on contract drafting and review, and may also include assistance with compliance issues, partnerships and strategic transactions, employment and labor issues, and litigation.
This position will be the sole attorney position within Canacre USA LLC/Canacre Ltd. but will have access to outside counsel and the other attorneys within the Quanta Services, Inc. organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts directly with customers, subcontractors and vendors
Assist with the drafting and preparation of proposals
Provide contract support and advise on contract issues as needed during project execution, including change management
Assist with claims, litigation and regulatory investigations, including overseeing outside counsel
Investigate, research, and provide legal advice concerning a broad range of issues and circumstances which arise in the company’s day-to-day business
Structure, draft and review reports and other legal documents
Review and interpret legislation, rules and regulations ensuring company personnel are aware of and in compliance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws
Provide effective risk management advice on legal topics and issues
Maintain current knowledge of applicable industry legislation
Leads various legal projects and collaborate on cross-functional initiatives
Negotiate workable solutions to complex and sensitive legal issues
Travel to various company locations, legal proceedings, and contract negotiations as may be required
Perform other job related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Juris Doctorate granted by an ABA accredited law school in the U.S. or the NCA in Canada
Minimum of 5 years of legal transactional/commercial experience, including customer contracts
Preferred minimum of 2 years’ experience negotiating contracts in Engineering and Construction industries
Experience with claims and risk management preferred
Ability to office at our corporate headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona or Calgary, Alberta
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
Analytical and detail oriented
Functional computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word, Acrobat Adobe, and internet research tools
Ability to manage and prioritize work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Ability to be self-directed and exercise independent judgment
Licenses/Accreditations
Current license to practice law in at least one state/province
Travel Requirements
Yes, up to 25% of time
