Hoffman Construction Company QA QC Field Engineer in CA, United States

POSITION SUMMARY: The QA/QC Field Engineer will champion the quality control efforts on site, including document review during preconstruction and construction. This position will inspect the project generally, including specific scopes, during the offsite fabrication, construction, commissioning, and punch list phases of the project – working to bring all issues to closure. This position will Collaborate with design professionals, clients, trade contractors and craftspeople to address complex coordination issues; you are on the front line in identifying, preventing, and solving technical problems on our projects. This position will be fully on-site located in Sunnyvale, CA.

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY: The QA/QC Field Engineer will champion the quality control efforts on-site, including document review during preconstruction and construction. This position will inspect the project generally, including specific scopes, during the offsite fabrication, construction, commissioning, and punch list phases of the project – working to bring all issues to closure. This position will Collaborate with design professionals, clients, trade contractors and craftspeople to address complex coordination issues; you are on the front line in identifying, preventing, and solving technical problems on our projects. This position will be fully on-site located in Sunnyvale, CA.

SALARY RANGE: $81,000 - $111,000 *DOE *Candidates residing outside of the designated area may be eligible for additional compensation

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule and coordinate inspectors, trade contractors, and associated personnel

  • Perform onsite inspections in assigned scope (electrical, mechanical, utilities, civil/architectural/structural, commissioning, etc.)

  • Attend and provide details for QA/QC Meeting and Quality Team Meeting

  • Ensure all trade contractors are following their approved QA/QC Plans

  • Ensure all trade contractors are installing work in accordance with project documents, applicable codes and standards, and best work practices

  • Perform offsite and onsite inspections of Owner Furnished Equipment

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is combination of sitting/walking and standing 

  • Legs: Must be able to climb stairs and walk long distances - 15% of day 

  • Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use 

  • Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid and far-range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination 

  • Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone and radio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipment 

  • Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over video conference, telephone, and radio 

  • Lift/Carry: Up to 40lb computer/drawings- minimal 

  • Bending/Twisting: minimal

  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: minimal

MENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required 

  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments 

  • Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results 

  • Must be able to plan and organize work 

  • Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction-related documentation and communicate with coworkers 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years Construction QA/QC experience in the above areas

  • Must be able to multitask, adaptable to fast fast-paced environment

  • Must work well with owners, tradespeople, trade contractors and team members

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook, office 365, MS Team, etc.)

  • Must have working knowledge and competency in Field Management Software (BIM360 Field, Procore, Latista, etc.)

VALUED:

  • Structural engineer, erector, and/or inspection experience

  • Concrete pre-install, install, and/or inspection experience

  • Site and architectural installation and/or inspection experience
