This Position is for an Operational Buyer/âPlannerwith a company located in Byhalia.

 

Job Summary: Operational buyer provides inputs to business projects and category management by identifying standardization, supplier enablement, operational purchasing and regional procurement process opportunities.

 

Responsibilities and Duties: Conducts day-to-day supplier management activities and coordinate communication as necessary to support commodity, and other activities required to manage the relationship. Reviews supplier delivery and quality performance, engaging the suppliers' management team when necessary to drive continuous improvement. Places Purchase Orders with suppliers ensuring proper terms and conditions. Assists in preparation and distribution of competitive bidding documentation for supplier proposals and quotations directed by the Commodity Managers and Commodity Strategies. Qualify and oversee initial implementation and is accountable for appropriate supplier replenishment strategies (Kanban, consignment, supplier schedules, etc) to improve on-time delivery and reduce lead times and inventory. Drives supplier accountability for quality and delivery performance.Reviews potential excess and obsolete material with the controller for disposition and arranges for disposal when necessary. Coordinates the return, rework or exchange of defective materials, including necessary chargebacks for discrepant materials. Supports and at times may lead cost reduction projects and improvement initiatives to achieve overall business objectives. Reconciles invoices when necessary to facilitate proper payment terms with suppliers. Follows up as appropriate to improve underlying processes.Drives suppliers to properly use electronic invoice and payment processes.

 

Education and Qualifications: High School Diploma/ GED Required; Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or Finance or related field preferred. 1+ years of purchasing and planning experience in a lean manufacturing environment required. Basic knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings of component parts required. Must be familiar with engineering change processes, bill of materials, company parts and products. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
