Associate / Sr Associate - Biologics Discovery (14 month contract)

Amgen British Columbia, located in Metro Vancouver, Canada, is a research center of excellence specializing in biologics discovery, including fully human therapeutic monoclonal antibodies. We seek a highly motivated early career scientist to join our Binder Discovery and Characterization Team as a Flow Cytometry Associate. In this role, you will perform flow cytometry testing and analysis, including sample preparation, instrument calibration, data acquisition, and data analysis. Your expertise will contribute to the development of novel antibody-based therapeutics for serious illnesses, working alongside an innovative team with a strong track record in pioneering antibody-based therapeutics.
Responsibilities
Perform all aspects of flow cytometry testing and analysis, preparing samples by following specific protocols, preparing reagents and calibrating the flow cytometry instruments
Acquire and analyze data using flow cytometry instruments by setting up the instrument, running the samples, and using software to analyze the data collected.
Maintain and troubleshoot flow cytometry instrumentation
Develop and optimize flow cytometry assays enhancing their accuracy and efficiency.
Ensure timely project completion and associated tasks, maintain detailed documentation, present project results.
Collaborate closely with scientists on research projects, sharing data, discussing results, and contributing to the planning and execution of experiments.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years experience with flow cytometry-based cell assay development.
Experience with FACS based cell sorting an asset
Familiarity with various flow cytometry platform an asset (e.g. Beckman Coulter CytoFLEX, Becton Dickinson FACSAria etc.).
Familiarity with flow cytometry data analysis (Flowjo, FCS express), principles and techniques.
Experience with instrument troubleshooting.
Mammalian tissue culture; primary cell culture skills an asset
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in Canada is 67,000 CAD – 110,000 CAD.
