Insight Global Systems Engineer(Linux/Storage/VMWare/AWS) in Burbank, California

Job Description

Investigate, analyze, resolve and document hardware and software problems on a wide range of systems on-site and in public cloud for multiple production and post production environments

Design and deploy systems in production timelines with high availability, and clear observability

Author tools, and leverage open source, to automate tasks with an emphasis on reliability and repeatability

Serve as an escalation point to troubleshoot and resolve performance and reliability issues in production environments

Lead and collaborate with engineers to ensure systems are designed to be scalable, and easily operated

Effective at dealing with change: Able to transition in role or handle a significant modification or technology with minimal ramp-up time and with very little guidance

Skills and Requirements

  • Local to Burbank onsite 5 days per week

  • Expertise in Linux, MacOS engineering and administration in a professional environment - important

  • High performance storage solutions (Quantum, Avid, Isilon) - important

  • Media File Transport Solutions (e.g. Signiant, Aspera) - important

  • Hands-On understanding of virtualization and VMware vSphere. - important

  • Experience with Scripting and Automation (BASH, Python, etc.)

  • IP networking including performance-based troubleshooting

  • Data Center Operations, Power Management, Elevations

  • This role is on site on the studio lots at least 5 days/week, once the resource is acclimated there is flexibility to be onsite 4 days per week.

  • Familiar with onsite and public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google) - Configuration management solutions and experience managing infrastructure as code. (ex: bash, ansible, terraform)

  • Strong project management and resource planning experience

  • Data center, network, and application architectures

  • Knowledge in Container Platforms (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift)

  • Experience with Post Production Software and Tools (e.g. Resolve, Baselight, Avid, Colorfront, etc.) null
