Our team in Hypersonic Vehicle Systems (HVS) is looking for a Systems Packaging Engineer in East Aurora, NY. This is an onsite position with some flexibility for hybrid work reporting to the engineering manager.

Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Contractor Security Clearance; currently holding a clearance is preferred.

As the System Packaging Engineer, you will support the engineering team with 3D modeling system layouts, proposal design solutions, and customer negotiations that influence Size, Weight, and Power. The products of Moog generally are unique for each customer. Therefore, most new applications require a special, tailored design, even though adaptation of existing designs always should be considered. Understanding of assembly and test methods if critical for early requirements definition and proposed solutions. This brings a regular supply of new and different challenges engaging all engineering disciplines early in the design life cycle. There will be support across multiple Moog BU's and at times component level drawings as needed. The majority of the work is engaging with the design team and the customers to provide rough solutions that can meet complex requirements and mission objectives.

To be considered for Systems Packaging Engineer, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering with four or more years design/drafting experience

    • Associate degree in mechanical engineering/technology with 15 or more years experience drafting/design is acceptable

  • Demonstrated ability in packaging electrical and mechanical components, Assemblies, Connectors, and cables, including design, integration and validation in environments including avionics or space

  • Engineering fundamentals with the ability to understand and guide analyses and offer solutions related to mechanical, electro-mechanical, and opto-mechanical systems. Types of analysis include thermal, structural, and dynamic.

  • Demonstrated CAD proficiency (NX, Pro-E, Solidworks)

  • Familiarity with packaging electrical components, mechanical components, as well as sizing torque

  • Knowledge to contribute and lead design for assembly/manufacturing discussions with the team

As a Systems Packaging Engineer, you will:

  • Lead and engage with team of creative, independent individuals

  • Contribute to the development of new products through consulting with customers and sales personnel

  • Provide critical early layout models for our customers

  • Consult on new product and market development efforts

  • Prepare successful proposal designs and concepts, along with cost and schedule estimates

  • Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses.

  • Mentor junior systems packaging engineers

  • Contribute to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and test of complex control hardware used on military/space vehicles and equipment

  • Learn the product design and development process

  • Determine the customer's needs, system architecture based on component layouts, analysis approaches and project management processes (cost and schedule)

  • Support subsections of the overall system engineering responsibilities

  • Be monitored by other Project, System or Design Engineers

  • Occasionally travel to support customer meetings and business development needs

  • Engage in requirements creation and conceptual validation early in programs

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $75,000.00-$120,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
