Independent Health System Administrator- Pharmacy Operations in Buffalo, New York

Overview

The System Administrator, Pharmacy Operations will be responsible for supporting the overall system and operational needs of the Pharmacy department including pharmacy projects, system configuration and support, implementation of new regulatory requirements from an operational perspective, vendor delegation oversight and overall pharmacy operational functions. They will be responsible for understanding the intersection of Independent Health’s pharmacy department’s business requirements and Pharmacy system(s) capability and reporting from those systems. Pharmacy systems include: CareRadius, Healthrules, Macess and RXClaim. The System Administrator will be responsible for supporting all reporting and analytics out of the pharmacy systems.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred.

  • Four (4) years of operational and/or systems experience required.

  • Background as a Pharmacy technician is preferred.

  • Prior experience with Core Systems (RXClaims, Macess, Healthrules, Siebel and/or CareRadius) required.

  • Operational expertise sufficient to understand and successfully consult with business units and IT on capabilities of the applicable business systems

  • Knowledge and experience in the development of departmental policies as well as process / procedural SOP.

  • Knowledge and experience with pharmacy benefit plans. Ability to understand and interpret pharmacy benefit contracts, prior authorization criteria, medical policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to recognize and effectively address operational issues in a fair and timely manner.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to focus and clarify concepts.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making abilities with an emphasis on analytical thinking in addition to effective organizational and time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize effectively.

  • Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Word and Excel required. A working knowledge of core business systems, Microsoft Access and Sharepoint preferred.

  • Must exhibit initiative, decisiveness, and creativity, along with self-motivation with the ability to assume responsibility and maintain strict confidentiality.

Essential Accountabilities

Pharmacy Systems Administration

  • Perform general administration, maintenance, development, configuration, reporting and testing on all pharmacy business systems including correspondence

  • Function as primary contact person during development and testing in applicable environments (Dev, Test, QA, Production)

  • Monitor system controls and processes to ensure continuous smooth operations ; coordinate with business and technical areas to resolve issues

  • Provide support by answering questions on system processes and assist with system problem resolution

  • Work with clinical staff to implement clinical algorithms that will allow for the most efficient process of prior authorization requests

  • Provide metrics and other reporting as needed

  • Translate regulatory requirements into CareRadius functionality and creation of regulatory reporting out of CareRadius

  • Support and coordinate the development of standard operations reports needed by multiple pharmacy areas including formulary team, MTM, PA and the help desk from the various enterprise systems.

  • Provide CareRadius system expertise

  • Identify and support implementing enhancements to the system to improve pharmacy department efficiency and processes

Project Support

  • Participate on designated strategic and business critical projects, including but not limited to software implementations

  • Work closely with the Supervisor – Pharmacy Operations to prioritize and balance workload to meet team goals

  • Lead pharmacy department project implementations as designated by the Supervisor – Pharmacy Operations

Vendor Oversight

  • Support the implementation of new pharmacy vendors and designated entities and understand how they pharmacy systems will integrate with the vendors

  • Support the oversight, QA, and problem resolution for vendors and delegated entities

  • Assist with development new processes and implementation of new regulatory requirements with vendors and delegated entities

Problem Resolution

  • Respond to and be a subject matter expert on operational questions from all areas of the pharmacy department as well as other internal and external areas while developing inter-departmental relationships to bridge operational gaps.

  • Attend and/or facilitate various meetings to provide business support as needed. Able to speak to issues or take away items for further review.

Hiring Compensation Range: $30 - $35 hourly

Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience.

In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
