Position Summary:

The Clinical and Translational Science Institute ( CTSI ) and its Clinical and Translational Science Award ( CTSA ) represent a large NIH Infrastructure grant to support clinical and translational research at the University at Buffalo (UB) and the Buffalo Translational Consortium ( BTC ) partner institutions under the leadership of the Director of the CTSI . An important part of the research of the CTSI is to perform advanced imaging. The Center for Biomedical imaging ( CBI ) is a centralized core unit of the CTSI program. The facility houses three state-of-the art scanners, among which is the Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography 690 ( PET -CT) scanner.

The PET /CT position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Assist with periodic radionuclear compliance requirements of the PET /CT scanner in the CBI

  • Dose calibrator/wipe counter maintenance (daily, semi-annual, etc. QA) and contamination surveys.

  • Perform imaging of subjects on the PET /CT scanner in the CBI for human studies

  • Perform imaging of subjects on the CT scanner in the CBI for preclinical studies

  • Perform other duties and/or tasks as assigned.

  • Adhere to all administrative and personnel policies of the Research Foundation for SUNY and the CTSI

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in science or nuclear medicine technology.

  • Successful graduate of accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program

  • NYS Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist with current NMTCB or ARRT certifications in Nuclear Medicine Technology and X-ray qualified to perform CT imaging

  • BLS / CPR certified

  • IV placement skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with imaging research

  • Experience with quality assurance for outside audits for safety and quality control.
