About the role

The Indirect Tax Senior is part of Global Tax Team based in Budapest. Diageo indirect tax charge is £7bn globally. The role has responsibility for carrying out the Indirect Tax compliance review for the markets under their responsibility including the execution of process improvements and managing the Indirect Tax compliance risk agenda for the relevant markets.

One of the main purposes of this role is to ensure that the markets’ indirect tax processes (including VAT, excise duty and other supplementary returns) are undertaken accurately, efficiently (utilising automation) and on time and the surrounding internal control procedures, legislative requirements are strictly adhered to. The role will support the successful implementation and ongoing operation of the Global Indirect Tax processes, controls and automation tools under the new Tax Operating model.

Scope of role covers reviewing or preparing VAT, excise duty, and connected returns. This requires interaction with the Indirect Tax Lead, Seniors and Analysts, a number of functions including both markets and central functions with a special focus on financial controlling teams, Source to Pay and Sell to Cash. The role will have a direct conversation with Tax business partners and Regional SME -s relevant for their area to provide support in audits, project and other continuous improvement related topics.

What you’ll bring

  • College/university degree in finance/accounting

  • Ideally minimum 2-3 years’ relevant accounting experience in SSC and/or FMCG/Big 4 advisory environment

  • Previous experience at an operational level in tax, controls and risk management is an advantage

  • Excellent communication skills able to build strong relationships with operational staff and partners

  • Strong analytical and questioning skills

  • Excellent business English

  • Good numerical skills and confident excel usage

  • Able to work with tight deadlines

  • Experience in working with SAP is an advantage

  • Experience in the review and/or coordination of the work of others is an advantage
