Role summary:
The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing procurement catalogs within the Medius platform and other E-Catalogue environments like Amazon Business. In addition to catalog upkeep, the role includes negotiating catalog pricing and item selection in collaboration with category managers and suppliers, ensuring catalogs align with strategic sourcing objectives and cost-saving goals. This role will also be supporting broader indirect sourcing initiatives across indirect supply chain
Key Responsibilities:
- Catalog Management
Set up, maintain, and optimize hosted and punch-out catalogs within Medius, Amazon and other environments.
Ensure catalog data (item descriptions, pricing, units of measure, availability, etc.) is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with procurement strategy.
Validate that catalogs reflect negotiated contractual terms and preferred supplier agreements.
- Supplier Collaboration & Negotiation
Act as the key point of contact for suppliers regarding catalog setup and maintenance.
Negotiate catalog pricing and product assortments directly with suppliers, working to secure competitive rates and terms.
Coordinate regular catalog updates with suppliers and ensure timely onboarding into the system.
- Strategic Sourcing Alignment
Work closely with category managers and supply chain stakeholders to align catalog content with sourcing strategies and operational needs.
Identify opportunities to consolidate items or suppliers to drive cost savings and standardization.
- Data Quality & Compliance
Perform regular audits to ensure catalog content is accurate and complies with procurement standards and contractual obligations.
Enforce policies around preferred suppliers, approved items, and spend compliance.
- End User Enablement
Provide training and ongoing support to end users on catalog functionality and best practices.
- System Integration & Support
Support seamless integration of catalog content with purchasing workflows and Medius system features.
Troubleshoot technical issues in coordination with internal IT teams and Medius support.
- Continuous Improvement
Analyze catalog usage data to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
Propose and implement changes that enhance catalog effectiveness, user experience, and cost efficiency.
- Indirect Sourcing Projects
Actively support and participate in indirect procurement sourcing initiatives
Requirements:
5+ years relevant experience
Strong understanding of eProcurement platforms, ideally Medius or similar systems.
Experience in procurement catalog management, with a proven track record of price negotiation and supplier engagement.
Excellent competency level in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Good communication skills with excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
Attention to detail and proficiency in catalog data handling and governance.
Good understanding of all the main purchasing areas: negotiations, evaluation and development of suppliers, supplier quality, logistics etc.
