The Opportunity

For our Corporate Finance Division we are looking for a finance professional to join our great team in Bucharest, Romania as an Accountant.

This is a full-time position based on an employment contract signed with an external agency.

What You'll do:

  • Perform the daily accounting entries, with posting of the related accruals, prepayments or any other month-end related postings in the local accounting system and in-line with the applicable legislation in-force / local or global policies requirements.

  • Maintaining selected general ledger accounts and ensuring assigned balance sheet and key income statement general ledger accounts are reconciled monthly.

  • Maintaining the fixed asset subledger.

  • Prepare bank reconciliations and bank payments.

  • Assisting the external auditors with audit requests, preparation of various audit schedules and resolving any issues identified during the testing procedure.

  • Month end reporting: Prepare the month end financial information to a high standard in accordance with required reporting legislations and within the corporate deadlines.

  • Support Annual Financial Statements preparation: Ensure that all required documentation is gathered and supplied timely to the auditors, support US GAAP vs Local GAAP reconciliations.

  • Taxation: Support compliance with local tax legislation, authorities (VAT & Corporate Tax).

  • Business Awareness: Liaise cross-functionally within Finance and ensure Internal Control activities are maintained and adhered to where applicable.

  • Moreover, the accountant will offer support to junior accountants as and when required.

Required qualifications and background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and knowledge of accounting principles.

  • 5 years of experience relevant to finance and accounting.

  • Deep understanding of accounting procedures, business processes and operations.

  • High degree of computer literacy - ERP, Microsoft Office (good knowledge of Excel is desired).

  • Communicative knowledge of English (both written and spoken).

  • Pro-active attitude, ability to work in a team.

  • Continuous learning mindset, analytical skills and attention to details.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
