What you need to know
TTI is a Texas based agency. This position has the flexibility of a hybrid remote option with two days in a TTI Texas based office. This can be discussed further during the interview process.
The salary range for position is commensurate. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
Job Summary
This position is expected to serve as Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, or contribute as a significant lead in research and proposal development. The incumbent must possess an understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods and be able to complete projects on-time with superior work product/ deliverables. The incumbent will conduct research following safety practices and guidelines maintaining project order through rules, policies, and regulation of TTI, TAMUS, and IRB. The position will be responsible for managing current contracts and submitting new proposals, composing various reports and white papers, presenting deliverables and study findings, overseeing graduate students and Jr. staff/personnel, developing state and national proposals, and engaging in inter- program coordination and project management. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
Essential Duties
Applied research duties include: data collection, analysis, coordination, and supervision; plan, schedule, coordinate, and report detailed phases of research and development projects; construct, evaluate and document data collection requirements and activities; coordinate data gathering activities and gather data needed for research tasks; assemble, organize, document, and archive datasets; synthesize data and extract meaningful statistics and trends; develop and/or run applications to conduct the research; analyze and develop potential new techniques, policies, procedures, and recommendations; conduct necessary literature review and background information to support research techniques and methodologies used; and document past research for reporting purposes. (40%)
Manage, communicate, and coordinate for sponsored projects; collaborate with research staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and support staff; must ensure the completion of research goals and objectives; and complete all job-related activities in a timely manner producing high quality project deliverables. (30%)
Actively seek and obtain externally funded research projects; performing work on general traffic safety with a strong emphasis on alcohol/drug related traffic safety issues; participate and lead in developing research proposals serving as Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, or contributing as a significant lead. (10%)
Report preparation: compile, document, and present results in formats required for inclusion in reports, technical memoranda, and presentations; prepare technical documentation, including literature reviews, data collection, analysis, and summaries; prepare project reports and other technical deliverables as required; prepare materials for presentation of research results and other deliverables at technical meetings or other venues. (5%)
Prepare and publish journal quality written reports and articles that promote research conclusions and findings as well as present these findings at state and national conferences/forums. (5%)
Research presentations: prepare and give presentations to existing and potential sponsors, academic or in conference settings; prepare, schedule, conduct, and document research meetings, focus groups and advisory councils. (5%)
Interacts with sponsors and potential clients with little to no help from others; manages graduate student workers on day-to-day research tasks and performance metrics; may be required to manage junior staff under the CADES program umbrella. (4%)

Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in Analytics, Public Health, or related fields.
Three years of related professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in grant project management and proposal development at the local, state, and national level
Experience in supporting, conducting and managing traffic safety research or other complex projects.
Experience in transportation, safety, education, and/or impaired driving.
Experience in the development of surveys and evaluation instruments.
Experience in drafting, reviewing and editing technical papers/reports.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A motivated self-starter with proven ability to set priorities, manage multiple concurrent activities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Extraordinary attention to detail and ability to perform error-free work.
Demonstrated skill and experience with the MS Office suite of programs, especially PowerPoint.
Strong data analysis skills. Knowledge of languages such as SAS, SQL.
Data visualization Skills. Knowledge of tools such as QlikView, Tableau, PowerBi).
Ability to adapt quickly to specialized computer application and willingness to learn new systems and tools.
Experience in supporting research or other complex projects.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Good judgment and sensitivity to confidential information.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Strong organizational skills which can be employed to individual work as well as to assist support other team members.
Strong sense of internal and external customer service. Able to travel by automobile and/or air. Available for overnight travel.
