BWC Terminals Terminal Manager in Brunswick, Georgia

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, BWC Terminals is a premier provider of bulk liquid storage and logistics services to refiners, manufacturers, and distributors of bulk liquids in North America. PURPOSE

Responsible for meeting the business goals of BWC Terminals (The Company) by helping to manage the staff, customers, productivity, and safety of the Terminal.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Below is a list of essential duties of this position. NOTE: Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Direct and manage terminal operations, maintenance and shipping and receiving. Quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving it, such as identifying improvement opportunities in the process to ensure objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries. Manage capital asset maintenance.

  • Establish and monitor overall terminal performance for operations and quality of standards.

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the terminal staff, including time off requests. Responsible for staff recruitment, performance management, compensation, and corrective action. Ensures staff is trained per HSEQ, operational and company-wide policies and procedures.

  • Plan and coordinate customer service activities in consultation with commercial and operations management.

  • Control and minimize labor overtime, repair expenses and utilities.

  • Maintain existing terminal and monitor the equipment to make sure that it stays in top condition and manage repairs or replacement recommendations for the equipment when needed.

  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.

  • Incorporates employee organization and terminal cleanliness among personnel.

  • Provides direction, development and leadership to terminal supervisor. Also supports the professional development of the entire terminal team.

  • Observes and makes recommendations regarding the efficiency of the terminal’s processes.

  • Develops, implements, and manages mandatory regulatory records. Ensures that all record keeping follows regulations and laws.

  • Oversees the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program for terminal operating equipment. Ensures that equipment is repaired and maintained.

  • Assists the HSEQ representative in developing, implementing, and enforcing The Company policies and procedures to promote and ensure a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. Approves contractor qualifications in consultation with the HSEQ department and procurement.

  • Works with Terminal personnel to satisfy all Company and payroll record timekeeping initiatives to include: accurate hours submittal of worked time, PTO, time off without pay, etc. Researches any discrepancies and makes sure everyone is following The Company policy and procedures. Works with the appropriate department if workers compensation, personal medical leave, etc. are involved and requiring approval(s).

  • Works with Human Resources to ensure compliance with The Company policies and procedures and/or bargaining unit contracts as well as local, state and federal laws. Coordinates activities with Human Resources to ensure that recruitment, retention, employee relations, performance management, and other human resource issues are effectively and efficiently carried out.

  • Prepares the operational and capital budget. Monitors the budget and ensures expenditures are within budget parameters.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSES, MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, LICENSES, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and five year’s terminal/general management experience. Terminal Manager experience highly preferred. Related experience may be used for degree.

  • Minimum five years’ experience in terminal management or related terminal, refinery, or tank vessel experience.

  • Experience in staff management.

  • Knowledge of and skill in operating equipment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

  • Project management knowledge.

  • Must be TWIC eligible.

  • Ability to use hand/power tools.

  • Ability to wear safety equipment, including safety shoes, goggles, gloves, and similar equipment.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents (regulations, policies, reports, bids, etc.), blueprints, drawings.

  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures.

  • Ability to effectively present information, communicate with, and respond to questions and complaints from staff, co-workers, management, and customers.

  • Ability to use basic math skills, calculate formulas, and understand tank capacities/volumes/ and percentages.

  • Ability to create and monitor budgets and skill in cost estimates.

  • Experience and ability in working with and evaluating contractors and subcontractors and similar vendors.

  • Knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations.

  • Customer service focus.

  • Ability to interact with others in a professional and appropriate demeanor, work effectively with a diverse group of individuals and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers.

Working Conditions and Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is often exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including rain and heat/cold, noise, fumes, grease, oil, noxious odors, cleaning chemicals, paints, glues, and solvents. Approximately 30% of the workday is outdoors.

Physical Requirements/Activities: This position involves standing, bending, stooping, walking, and climbing. Frequently the employee is required to kneel, bend, crawl, crouch, push, pull, lift, or twist. Occasionally the employee is required to lift or exert force of more than 50 pounds. Frequently, the employee is required to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required is close vision of 20 inches or less and vision ability of greater than 3 feet.
