Job Description

JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE

The VP of MUD Operations will lead and guide the implementation of a business operations backbone for the MUD business. The VP of MUD Operations will also define, document, and implement best business process management practices across all MUD branches and major cost centers, with an eye toward improving organizational efficiency, accountability, and profitability.

A Water / Wastewater or B water / Wastewater license required

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and implement a meaningful and robust set of business performance metrics across the MUD business.

  • Develop, analyze the financial impact of, and implement contracting methods that drive MUD business profitability.

  • Promote new methods of MUD business contracting internally to account managers, branch managers, business developers, and externally to MUD boards and MUD board advisor's.

  • Educate Operations, Maintenance, and other MUD Managers on using business performance metrics to drive performance improvement.

  • Systematize metrics by building them into key business systems, i.e IPS, NetSuite, Power BI, etc.

  • Work with MUD Financial Partner to integrate operational KPI’s with financial measurements.

  • Identity and implement other margin improving business processes.

  • Assist with the implementation of management systems and related training.

  • Projects as assigned, delegated and/or identified

  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance

  • Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills

  • Ability to draw business improving conclusions from analyzing data sets

  • Strong commercial awareness and business aptitude. Ability to assess a business process from an internal and client perspective

  • Strong computer software skills utilizing the Microsoft 365 of productivity software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Project, Power BI, etc.

  • Excellent communication skills as it relates to disseminating and gathering information in both written and oral format with other team members, external partners and customers.

  • Demonstrated project management skills, with flexibility in terms of dealing with changing priorities and dealing with multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to effectively deliver training and management development

  • Willingness to challenge others in a productive way to optimize solutions

  • Strong team player

  • Proven ability to work in a matrix environment

  • Technical knowledge or aptitude for learning water, wastewater, and other mechanical systems and technology

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree, Preferred.

  • 7-10 years of experience in the water/wastewater industry or equivalent of experience and education;

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION

  • Valid driver's license

  • “A” water license preferred; minimum of “B” through TCEQ

  • “A” waste water water license preferred; minimum of “B” through TCEQ

TRAVEL

  • Up to 20-40% travel; primarily within the state of Texas, with more or less occurring during specific project periods is expected.
